The delegation of Hanoi University of Pharmacy paid a vist to Europe.

Receiving invitation from University of Greifswald, Germany; Pierre Fabre Fund, Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse III) and Bordeaux Segalen University (Bordeaux II), France, the delegation of Hanoi University of Pharmacy, led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Rector paid a working visit in to Germany and France from 6th to 17th September , 2019.

During the working time at University of Greifswald, Germany, the delegation had exchanging and sharing sessions with experts and visited the departments of the University of Greifswald on training and scientific researching activities in various fields: biochemistry, biology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, cellular metabolism & biochemistry, biopharmaceuticals, and pharmaceutical technology; on entrepreneurship & creativity; on herbal materials and its herbal medicine development. The delegation also visited and exchanged with institutes, research centers and businesses such as Hans-Peter Hildebrand Biological & Biochemical Research Center, PaludiMed GmbH, Anklam Extrakt, which are producing high-quality extracts, providing raw materials for pharmaceutical, food, or functional food businesses.

Both parties disscussed and agreed on the following issues: (1) Both sides together write and submit two projects (which thay bằng) whose budget is expected from technical ODA sources of 02 Governments: (i) Screening and conservation of biodiversity, research and development of herbal products in Vietnam; (ii) Improve the training capacity of Hanoi University of Pharmacy in Biotechnology and Biochemistry; (2) Coordinate between both sides in screening, analyzing, testing biological and pharmacological effects of some herbs that have been screened and initially researched at Hanoi University of Pharmacy; (3) Implement an exchange programs for students and lecturers; (4) Cooperation between Institutes - Schools - Enterprises between Germany and HUP and Dinh Tien Hoang Institute of Medicine in (i) Forming Form a network of scientists; (ii) Research and develop herbal products; (iii) Consulting and developing Consult and develop the biodiversity conservation and medicinal plant resources in Ninh Binh Province. To recognize and enhance cooperation between both two sides, Hanoi University of Pharmacy and the University of Greifswald signed a framework cooperation agreement as a legal basis in promoting cooperation in the coming period.

Following the visit to Germany, the delegation also had meetings with Pierre Fabre Fund, Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse III) and Bordeaux Segalen University (Bordeaux II) and had results as follows:

At the meeting with the Pierre Fabre Foundation, both sides discussed and agreed on these issues: (i) Review the preparations for the closing conference of the European Master's Degree Program in Pharmacy (Master Mekong Pharma), expected to be held in December at Hanoi University of Pharmacy; (ii) Discuss the content of the cooperation agreement on the next project of the European Master's Degree Program in Pharmacy (CPD Program): the way mode of management and sugesstion of organizing members. Also during this period, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, representing Hanoi University of Pharmacy, attended the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Pierre Fabre Fund, held in Toulouse, France, with more than 400 delegates from countries around the world.

During the working visit at Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse III), both sides re-evaluated the effectiveness of the cooperation between the two universities over the years and explored the possibility of cooperation in the coming period, focusing on several key points: (i) Student exchange (prioritize the admission of HUP students for short-term internships at the practice hospital of the University of Toulouse III); (ii) Share and exchange training programs for bachelors and masters (including biotechnology, biochemistry, and molecular biology); (iii) Share the possibility of scientific research cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical genes, cellular biochemistry, pharmacological effects, drug development from herbs; (iv) Explore the possibility of implementing dual master's degree program in pharmacology - clinical pharmacy.

During the working visit to the University of Bordeaux Selagen (Bordeaux II), HUP delegation visited the CNRS Research Institute, IMPSEC and several faculties of the University; met with professors and both sides agreed to: (i) Enhance student exchange (prioritize admission of HUP students for short-term internships in hospitals, research laboratories of the University of Bordeaux Selagen and its practice hospitals/research institutes); (ii) Share training programs on bachelors and masters of biotechnology and life sciences (iii) Coordinate in the implementation of scientific researches in the fields of epidemiology, health economics, pharmaceutical vigilance; (iv) Enhance lecturer exchange.

The delegation ended 10 working days in Germany and France with some remarkable results. Both sides committed to seek and actively promote the implementation of the contents agreed in the Cooperation Agreement and meeting sessions.
