2. Foundation and development

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology was established under Decision No. 1043/QĐ-BYT dated April 8, 2011, by the Minister of Health, and officially launched and started operations on April 6, 2012. At the beginning, the Institute's facilities only included the Analysis, Testing, and Bioequivalence Assessment Laboratory (formerly the Central Laboratory) (Decision No. 70B/QĐ-DHN dated February 29, 2012, on the transfer of the Central Laboratory). The department is equipped with modern equipment and machinery, serving teaching and scientific research in the fields of drug analysis and testing.

By June 2012, the Institute had established an additional Laboratory of Drug Formulation Technology Research and Raw Material Production. The Institute's Research Laboratory was equipped with modern machinery to support studies on drug formulation and raw material production: rotary tablet press, dissolution testing machine, film coating machine, supercritical extraction system, microbiological incubator, and more.

On August 4, 2016, the Drug Administration – Ministry of Health issued a certificate of compliance with the principles and standards of "Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)" to the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (NIPT), according to Decision No. 333/QĐ-QLD.

On July 28, 2022, the Drug Administration – Ministry of Health issued a certificate of compliance with the principles and standards of "Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)" to the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (NIPT), according to Decision No. 439/QĐ-QLD.

On June 1, 2025, the Training & Pharmaceutical Science Services Centre was transferred to the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, according to Decision No. 579/QĐ-DHN dated May 30, 2025, by the Rector of Hanoi University of Pharmacy.
