Call for Applications: Asian Hackathon for Green Future 2026 with a Total Prize Pool of USD 24,000
The Asian Hackathon for Green Future 2026 has been officially launched, marking the first time an Asia-wide environmental hackathon exclusively for undergraduate and master’s students is held in Vietnam. The competition aims to foster innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration among young talents in developing technology-driven solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
Open to students from universities across Asia, the hackathon offers a total prize pool of USD 24,000. Participants are required to form teams of up to four members and submit an idea proposal along with an introductory video during the initial stage.
The competition is organized by the For Green Future Foundation in collaboration with VinUniversity and the Vingroup Young Technology Talent Club, aiming to create a regional platform for young innovators to transform environmental awareness into impactful, real-world solutions.
The program consists of three main stages: Registration and Preliminary Round (April 6 – May 17, 2026); Online Training Round (June 2 – June 28, 2026); and the Final Round and Hackathon (expected from July 2 – July 5, 2026). The top 30 teams selected from the preliminary round will participate in intensive training sessions and receive mentorship from experts to further refine their ideas.
Proposed projects should address one of three key thematic areas: renewable energy and low-carbon mobility; urban air quality and climate resilience; and water resources and climate-resilient agriculture. The competition encourages interdisciplinary approaches integrating technology, environmental science, economics, and social sciences to ensure feasibility and social impact.
Beyond the competition, participants will have opportunities to connect with leading experts, expand professional networks, and engage in the broader innovation ecosystem, contributing to the development of sustainable solutions for the region’s future.
