The 8th Indochina Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The 8th Indochina Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences on December 4th and 5th, 2013 at Lotte Legend Hotel Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City, has had the biggest scale up to now and attracted 450 scientists, medical and pharmaceutical experts from our country and 17 nations such as Austria, Japan, France, America, Russia, Korea, China....
The conference was organized by Ministry of Health of Viet Nam, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in association with Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, (Thailand) and University of Kebangsaan (Malaysia). The conference was held with the subject "ASEAN Pharmacy- Integration for Development", aiming at speeding up the integration into the region and the world to strengthen the exchange and cooperation in the training fields, scientific research and pharmaceutical technologies among the universities in Viet Nam and Thailand.
At the conference, the scientists mainly discussed the areas of pharmacology, clinical pharmacy and community pharmacy, pharmaconogsy and chemistry of natural compounds, pharmaceutical chemistry, analytical chemistry and testing, biopharmacy and biotechnology, pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical industry. The participants also discussed the topics of pharmaceutical training in the ASEAN community and the current situation ofdrug registration in Vietnam.
The conference was an opportunity for the Pharmacy universities, pharmacists and pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in the country to approach and exchange the issues related to the intensive pharmacy, the quality improvement in the medical services.
Hanoi University of Pharmacy headed by Asso. Prof., Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, and 16 members took part in the conference. HUP participants delivered 4 oral presentations and 13 poster presentations, including 3 oral presentations of Pharmaceutics specialty presented by 3 young lecturers: Nguyen Van Lam, Dao Minh Huy and Vu Ngoc Mai, and one oral presentation by MS. Tran Lan Anh, from Department of Pharmaco-economy. The poster presentation on "An evaluation of drug interactions within the database of adverse drug reactions spontaneously reported in Vietnam" by Pharmacist Tran Ngan Ha, expert from the National DI & ADR center won "The 1st Poster Presentation Awards"
Ending the conference, on behalf of the three co-founders Indochina Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences, Asso. Prof., Dr. Tran Hung, Head of Department of Medicine, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy has announced: ASEAN Pharmacy Conference in 2015 will be formally hosted by Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University and henceforth the conference will be extended to other members in Asian region, and from the year 2015 onwards, the conference will be organized every year alternately in the registered member country.
